moving!
spent a long night on call, after sleeping in, so that was good. then I couldn’t sleep when I wanted to, I had to be up several hours later. Instead of sleeping, I read Bright Lights Big City, a book someone had mentioned somewhere. It had intrigued me enough (and my friend) to track down a copy. She read it first and then gave it to me, I feel like I’ve let somebody down not reading it until now. However, I also think that reading it right now, in the state that I’m in, was good. Not to mention I was downtown in Chicago the whole time, though it’s about NYC and Chicago is nothing like it, so I’ve heard.
I just imagine NYC to be so enormous and old, dirty and heavy. Chicago is not on the same page as that. I don’t know what Chicago is, but living downtown has been a strange thing. Almost a year now, I’ve lived in the loop almost a year now and soon to be moving out to Bucktown (fingers crossed for that apartment). It’s a nice looking place, four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a deck, second floor living. Next to a vacant spooky lot that one my roommates convinced me that we’d be able to make it a better place. Someone owns it but does not maintain or keep it secure like the sign on the fence says.
Maybe we can have late night baseball tournaments. So once you get out of the loop, Chicago just the midwest, with history and lots of scary gangs.
It wasn’t worth going back to sleep this morning after passing off the stupid pager at 8:30, work at 10. I’m hoping nothing too strenuous that I can just disappear and feel sleepy. Everyone else pulls one of those at least once a week, they work full time though. At least work is only across the street.
Bravo’s art competition is coming to the gallery the 16th, that should be interesting. Hope there’s some famous fancy peeps coming by with they cute little portfolio and artsy looks, todays the day you wear the best you have in terms of artsy looks.
